Appeal Filed in Downloading Case
Jammie Thomas-Rasset, who was ordered to pay $1.92 million for illegally downloading and distributing 24 songs, has filed an appeal, saying the "damages awarded are grossly in excess of any reasonable estimate" and that "even the plaintiffs were shocked by the verdict." She asks the court to either alter or amend the judgment to remove the award of statutory damages, reduce the damages to the statutory minimum, or order a new trial.
