Decline in Patent Filings Expected

A recent survey by the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) indicates that corporations may be filing fewer patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2009 than in 2008. Eighty-five corporate members of IPO participated in the survey, with 41% of respondents saying their patent filings for 2009 would decrease.
