David Harlan and Paul Fleischut Quoted on St. Louis IP Practice in the St. Louis Business Journal

David Harlan and Paul Fleischut are quoted in the February 27, 2009 issue of the St. Louis Business Journal in the article "IP Practices See Boost from Cost-cutters." The article examines the effect the current economic climate is having on intellectual property work and how local law firms are becoming the firms of choice for companies that are no longer willing to foot the bill for expensive East and West coast law firms. Fleischut notes that the number of employees at Senniger Powers increased by 10% in 2008, and that the firm expects to grow by another 10% in 2009.

Harlan comments that protecting intellectual property is an important business strategy for technology companies. "If you look at how the U.S. economy has changed over the last 15 to 20 years, we don't make steel very much anymore, but we may develop computerized techniques for making steel that might be patentable. We develop the ideas and the technology and that is what our economy is increasingly based upon. Companies that invest in that technology really have to protect it, or they lose their investment."
