Community Involvement

Ms. Gillette is active in the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL). She is the 2010-11 secretary of BAMSL’s Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee. Sara Gillette is the 2010-11 co-chair of BAMSL’s Motion for Kids (formerly known as Project Angel Tree) committee. Motion for Kids is BAMSL's largest volunteer outreach/community service program and serves approximately 3,000 children who either have a parent in prison or is in foster care. Ms. Gillette also serves as the CLE coordinator for Women in the Legal Profession section of BAMSL and has organized CLEs on topics such as rainmaking for female attorneys and ethical issues connected constant availability.

Ms. Gillette is a board member for PayBack; an organization that supports restorative justice programs in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.

Sara Gillette is also on the Young Friends of the Garden board for the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Ms. Gillette also does pro bono work and recently completed an appointed case in Federal Court obtaining a favorable settlement in an employment discrimination case.

She has been involved in litigation involving patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, idea misappropriation, and unfair competition. Ms. Gillette's practice also includes the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.

Ms. Gillette has been extensively involved in intellectual property litigation, including drafting several claim construction briefs and summary judgment motions. Ms. Gillette’s cases have been in a variety of areas including electronic voting equipment, encryption methods, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.

Sara Gillette received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2001 from Rockhurst University in Kansas City. Before attending law school, Ms. Gillette was a chemist at Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City. She has first hand experience with a wide variety of instrumental analysis and chemical techniques.

Ms. Gillette graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law. Sara Gillette was also a member of the Saint Louis University Public Law Review and President of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association.

Sara Gillette is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, American Intellectual Property Law Association, and St. Louis Lawyers Association.
