Professional Summary
Mr. Harper's practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in chemical, life sciences and related fields, both in the United States and abroad. His client counseling responsibilities regularly require him to render assessments regarding patentability, patent enforcement, freedom-to-operate and other intellectual property issues.
Mr. Harper began practicing law in 2000. Prior to that time he gained extensive industry experience in a wide variety of technical and managerial roles in the fields of biochemistry, organics, inorganics, fermentation technology, botanicals, paints and coatings, pharmaceuticals, and FDA, OSHA, EPA and DEA regulatory compliance. While in law school Mr. Harper worked full time as a principal chemical engineer in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Mr. Harper received Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering in 1978 and 1982, respectively, from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He received his Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University in 1994 where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and was elected to the Order of the Woolsack.
Mr. Harper is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
