Mr. Leavitt has been actively engaged in the practice of patent, trademark and copyright law, specializing in the preparation and prosecution of chemical and pharmaceutical patents and participating extensively in the practice of trademark and unfair competition law.

Mr. Leavitt received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Marquette University in 1946. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1948 from the University of Illinois and his Juris Doctorate in 1951 from the University of Michigan.

He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association (Past-Chairman, Patent, Trademark, and Copyright Committee; Recipient, Presidents Award, 1983), the Illinois Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the United States Trademark Association, the International Trademark Association, the American Chemical Society, and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (Past-Chairman, Patent, Trademark, Copyright Section). He was also an adjunct professor of patent law at Saint Louis University School of Law from 1956 to 1993.
